Welcome to John Flamsteed Community School

John Flamsteed Community School is a very popular and successful 11-16 school serving the communities of Denby, Kilburn and Street Lane.

Over recent years the accommodation has been much improved with the provision of purpose built Humanities, Mathematics, Science, Technology, Drama, Music and ICT facilities. Sports provision includes a gymnasium, tennis courts and extensive playing fields with football and hockey pitches.

The school was granted Specialist Status in Mathematics and Computing in 2004 and, after gaining High Performing Specialist School status in 2006, added Science as a second Specialism.

Despite being a relatively small secondary school (600 students on roll) the school is still able to provide a very broad curriculum and a wide range of enrichment activities which include sport, arts, science, technology, field work and residential and leisure activities. The curriculum reflects the school specialisms with all students following ICT courses to examination level and options at Key Stage 4 including separate sciences, astronomy and statistics.
